What is communal bias?

Communal bias refers to a biased attitude towards a particular community or group of people based on their race, religion, ethnicity, class or gender. This bias can arise due to social conditioning or negative experiences or perceptions of a community or group. Communal biases can lead to discrimination, prejudice, and stereotyping which can have negative consequences such as reduced opportunities, lower self-esteem and limited access to resources. In a broader social context, communal biases can give rise to social inequalities and conflicts. It is important to address these biases through education, awareness, and inclusive policies and practices.
